Natural Skincare The Safe Way
May 26, 2009 2:42 am skin careAs you more than likely already know, while there certainly are many safe skin care solutions on the market, there are even more which do no good at all. Shockingly enough, there are also many that, apart from not helping, actually have the potential for causing permanent damage. The good news is though, some cleansing skin care procedures do in fact help to slow down the natural aging process of your skin, so if youd like to find out more, please carry on reading.
Remember, effective skin cleansing actually starts in the shower, so it pays to remember that many modern soaps and shampoos contain potentially harmful chemicals. Likewise, the vast majority of municipal water coming out of our taps is polluted with a number of toxins and impurities which are under no circumstances good for your skin.
Of course, without the help of costly water filtration systems, its virtually impossible to avoid all of these undesirable toxins, but having said that, you can remove a large percentage of them simply by using a good quality shower head filter. Additionally, all those ever-popular anti-bacterial skin cleansing products also need to be avoided.
For the most part, the active ingredient in these is Triclosan, which in itself is hazardous both to you and to the environment. Instead, if youre genuinely concerned about skin cleansing, opt for one of the safer alternatives such as Manuka Honey.
Take a look at all of those skin cleansing products in your medicine cabinet. You should get rid of any products containing parabens, artificial fragrance and petrochemicals. Natural skin care products for cleansing include tea tree oil, manuka honey bars and orange oil, which cleanse your skin without using soaps that irritate the delicate skin of your face.
You should also stay away from those exfoliating cleansers, especially micro-beads. These cause irritation and inflammation and actually contribute to wrinkles and sagging skin.
Of course, those suffering from excessively oily skin are also advised to include the use of masks into their regular cleansing skin care routine, even if only once each week. Here again, masks containing natural products such as manuka honey, shea butter, keratin and natural clay are best.
Lastly, be sure to choose your masks wisely as some can prove extremely difficult to remove. In this case, you stand this risk of either clogging your pores or alternatively, youll need to scrub your face excessively, thus also causing unnecessary damage. For this reason, try to ensure all your masks either contain shea butter or macadamia oil.
